Octoshape will be streaming from the Prix Europa opening ceremony, which will take place on October 14 at 2000 to 2100 CET. The performer of the concert is "Gaiteros de Lisboa" (Portugal).
From 14 to 21 October 2006 Prix Europa invites the best European television-, radio- and Internet productions aswell as their makers and managers to Berlin for a week of festival and competition.
The Gaiteiros de Lisboa are said to be the greatest avantgarde folk music band on the Iberian peninsula. On the basis of various wind- instruments, especially the Gaita, the Portuguese bagpipe, and polyphonic vocal arrangements the Gaiteiros de Lisboa interpret different traditions of Portuguese music. The earthy sounds from the Minho, the province of Tras-os-Montes in the North, stand next to the songs and melodies from the Douro region, from Alentejo or the Algarve. Original compositions enrich this great musical pool and build a bridge between tradition and modernity.
